Leda Shadow finds herself alone at Malcroix Bones Academy at the beginning of winter break, unable to leave because half of Magique wants her dead. Caelum Bones, her sometimes enemy, sometimes ally, and recently, her sometimes something else, remains in hospital after his own father nearly killed him.
Her friends scatter to the wind, or so she thinks, until a group begins to coalesce among those who stayed behind. When Caelum returns to campus, they form a sort of “Holiday Club,” digging into archives for a dangerous and secret project led by Lucifer “Luc” Mocking, one of Leda’s closest friends.
Meanwhile, outside the school’s walls, people are beginning to disappear. Before Magical law enforcement can find them, they always reappear, yet rumors circulate that they come back different. All while Magique itself grows increasingly unstable after the capture of the charismatic “face” of Dark Cathedral, Caelum’s father, Malefic Bones.
When Caelum decides to take matters into his own hands, venturing deep into Dark Cathedral territory, it unlocks a sequence of events that will change his and Leda’s lives forever.

Kickstarters!
There's going to be a short delay on paperbacks and hardcovers on retail sites for my Bones and Shadows series, because as part of the launch of the series, I decided to run my first Kickstarter and offer the very first paper books exclusively there.
So I did that from February 2-23rd, 2026 for the first two books, and it went really well! Right now, I'm in the fulfillment stage with it, so you can't order these books at the moment, unfortunately.
That said, a few things to note:
(1) I'm going to be running a 2nd Kickstarter for the next 2 books in the series: Bones and Blood Spells, and Serpent and Shadow. That's currently planned for autumn of this year (2026)!
(2) Once the Kickstarters are fulfilled, I will release retail versions in hardback and paperback format.
(3) I'll also be selling special editions on here ~ you won't get all of the bells and whistles the Kickstarter folks get in terms of stretch goals, etc., and you have to wait a bit longer, but they WILL be on here! :)
A Few Things About the Kickstarter that finished earlier this year:
* It offered three (3) Exclusive Special Editions for the first 2 books in the Bones and Shadow series: a Deluxe Retail Edition, an Art Deco Edition, and a Gothic Edition. All 3 were designed with human artists, and the second two are each collaborations with two different artists per cover and dust jacket!
* Every book will be hand-signed by the author!
* Each edition featured foiled book covers, a gorgeous fantasy map by Ink and Lore Maps, and exclusive-to-Kickstarter title page art, chapter headings, endpapers, and tons of art inside. The two (non-retail) versions also included foiled dust jackets, sprayed edges, and other bling from hitting stretch goals!
* Most tiers also came with an art pack with over 30 pieces of original artwork (stickers, prints, etc.!)

Jules D’Or is the fantasy and paranormal romance pen name for USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author JC Andrijeski.
Jules/JC is an obsessive fan of romantasy and enemies to lovers stories, who also happens to have a background in journalism and history, and a tendency to drink far too much coffee. She’s also been known to meditate in caves, abduct furry and shiny things, wander far from home, and will generally read whatever she can get her hands on. She grew up in the Bay Area of California, but at various times lived in the U.K., Europe, Australia and Asia, and from coast to coast in the United States.
